Okerenkoko community marks children's day with donation of desks, tables, science lab equipment

The Okerenkoko Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri Southwest Local Government Area of Delta State, has donated 100 desks, 10 teachers' tables, 15 teachers' chairs, notebooks, and science lab equipment to it secondary school, commemorating the 2025 Children's Day celebration.
PEBNEWS reports that the theme of this year's celebration was "Catch Them Young."
Led by Hon. Shedrack Otuaro, the community emphasized the importance of education. Mr. Andrew Bebenimibo, Community's Secretary General, who represented the chaorman, Otuaro urged students to take their studies seriously, debunking the notion that education is a scam.
He further encouraged parents to play an active role in their children's education. "Take your children serious, educate them and tell them the right thing to do, so that tomorrow we have greater children, so as to add more value to our society," he stated.
Amb. John Dekawei, Public Relations Officer of Okerenkoko Federated Community while presenting the Desks and Science lab equipment to the school highlighted the community's commitment to education, stating that the donation aimed to make learning easier and science subjects more appealing to students. Speaking further, Dekawei urged the school to make good use of the equipment.
The secondary school principal, Mr. Emurashe Sunday expressed gratitude for the donation, promising to utilize the equipment effectively. "I'm a science student myself, and I know the value of these equipment. I assure you that we will put them to good use, and you will be proud of the results," he said.
