The closed-door meeting brought together high-profile figures, including political leaders, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, to chart a way forward in tackling the region’s security issues.

“Under my watch, criminal elements will not succeed. We will deal with them decisively and make Edo inhabitable for their activities,” Governor Okpebholo stated after the meeting.

Among those present were Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku; former Governor and current Senator representing Edo North, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh; former Deputy Governors Peter Obadan and Philip Shaibu; as well as other top government officials.

The governor noted that the forum was not just a response to growing concerns but a proactive step to strengthen collaboration between communities and security agencies.

“All our leaders—political, religious, and traditional attended. The discussions were fruitful, and we are confident that this will mark a turning point. Things will be perfect in our land,” Okpebholo assured.

Senator Oshiomhole commended the governor’s direct engagement with grassroots stakeholders, noting it was the first of its kind in the state.

“This is the first time a sitting governor is holding such an open and focused dialogue on security with the people of Edo North. The Governor gave us the assurance that he will continue to prioritize safety,” Oshiomhole said.

He also revealed that Governor Okpebholo had already provided vehicles and motorcycles to support security operations.

Religious and traditional leaders also expressed optimism about the outcomes of the meeting. Bishop of Auchi Diocese, Gabriel Dunia, praised the Governor's inclusive approach and emphasized the need for collective action.

“We’re appreciative of all efforts so far. People have spoken their minds on the way forward, and we will work with it to ensure our land knows peace,” Bishop Dunia said.

HRH Mallam Ali Suleiman, a traditional ruler from Edo North, described the meeting as a landmark event that has restored public confidence.

“The Governor came himself and met with us. This gives us hope. We, the traditional rulers, are ready to work with security agencies to ensure peace in our communities,” he stated.

The Edo State Government has pledged to follow through on all resolutions from the meeting, signaling a new level of commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
