Be of Good Conducts on Campus, FUPRE SUG President urges Students

The President of Students Union Government, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, Comrade Edemakiota Etiosa O.has urged the newly admitted students of the school to be of good behaviour now that they have gained admission into the school.
Comrade Etiosa stated this during orientation programme organised by the school authority for the fresh students on Wednesday on campus.
The President of SUG said the newly admitted students should know what brought them to the school and shun any act that can put their educational pursuit in jeopardy. According to him, among others things, they should shun cultism, drugs abuse, examination malpractice, truancy, and take their students seriously.
Comrade Etiosa who is a - 500 level student of the Department Electrical and Electronics Engineering charged the students not toil with whatever information given to them in the orientation programme but should serve as the working tools in the institution.
According to him, it is now that they are young that, they can study as a time would come,they have to settle down, get a good job and take care of their family.
Etiosa expressed gratitude for the
Management of the school especially the Vice Chancellor, Prof.(Engr.) Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, and other management staff for giving the opportunity for him to serve in this capacity just as he appealed to the school management to take welfare more seriously. He also thanked the school for making the orientation programme a success.
Speaking on the lecture titled:" Indecent Dressing", Director, Servicom, Prof.Kenneth A.Ibe charged the students to always dress properly within and outside the campus. According to him, the act of the girls and boys dressing half naked, which to them, a sign of civilization, is wrong. According to him, they should not copy negative attributes of their fellow students but copy the good ones. He said, there is a reward for good dressing.
Also speaking is the Deputy Registrar admission, FUPRE, Mr Johnbull Arukenifo Otolo who spoke on:" Guidelines on University Policy on Students' Registration". He charged the students to follow the due process of registration and other procedures of school to enable them become the qualified students of the school and charged them to take their studies seriously and be good ambassadors of the school.
On his part, FUPRE Deputy Registrar, Exams and Records, Mr. Kennedy Ebakata spoke on: "Measurements and Evaluation". According to him, the students should take their students seriously at the beginning of their study to enable them have sound grades that would enable them have first class on graduation. Mr Kennedy who displayed the chart of the various grades on the screen for them to see said, when they start very well and keep on with that pace, they would have first class. His words:" It is not just to start well by acquisition of 'A' grades in performance, you must sustain the tempo to the end, it is then you can find yourself in first class position on your graduation."
Others who spoke include: Assistant Chief Superintendent, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences(ICPC) Asaba, Mr. Nathan Onyebuchi. He spoke on crime and its negative consequences, Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu, CEO, The Digital Librarian spoke on the usefulness and dangers in the use of Artificial Intelligence(Al) in academic work, among others.
The highpoint of the programme was questions and answers among the students and lecturers.
