Governor Oborevwori Launches Whistle-Blowing Initiative to Ensure Quality Project Delivery in Delta

In a decisive move to enhance transparency and accountability in Delta State’s project execution, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has introduced a whistle-blowing system to curb substandard work and ensure quality service delivery.

Governor Oborevwori announced this initiative during a high-level meeting with senior civil servants, stressing the need for ethical leadership and strict oversight in government projects. Concerned about recurring reports of officials colluding with contractors to approve substandard work, he made it clear that such practices would no longer be tolerated.

Revealing the administration’s commitment to enforcing accountability, the Governor disclosed that two engineers had already been suspended for approving incomplete projects for payment.

“Delta must come first. We cannot allow shortcuts or compromises on quality. If everyone does their job diligently, I won’t have to personally inspect every project,” he declared.

To further involve citizens in monitoring project execution, Governor Oborevwori announced plans to establish whistle-blowing hotlines. Through these channels, residents can anonymously report poor project execution by contractors, providing photographic evidence where necessary.

“If a contractor is not delivering as expected, take a picture and send it in. Your identity will be protected, and we will take swift action,” he assured.

With this initiative, the Governor is reinforcing his administration’s commitment to good governance, ensuring that public funds are used efficiently and that Deltans receive the quality infrastructure they deserve.
