Aladja Grammar School fence must be done, Waive declares, vows to use funds from constituency project
The member representing the people of Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, RT.Hon. Ejiroghene Francis Waive today said the fencing of Aladja Grammar School in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State must be done adding, through the broken fence, there are incursions into the school's land.
RT. Hon. Waive made the declaration at the just concluded 50th celebration of Aladja Grammar School today.
According to the Federal lawmaker, he has taken the fencing of the school as his constituency project for the year as funds from his constituency project will be used to carryout the fencing work in the school.
According to him: "Aladja Grammar School fence must be done. In the last four years, l have mounting pressure on the Executive Officer in Charge of SDG who a member of our party.
Each time she sees me, whether in APC convention or not, she would always says Aladja Grammar School must be done. If I am not mistaken, early this year, she sent people again to look at it. This was apart from the time which Bezi&Co were able to get the measurement for her. But the time she wanted to come and do the fencing was taking too long a time "
RT. Hon. Waive who is an Old Student of Aladja Grammar School said: "So, when I was coming, I told myself every legislator is entitled to one constituency project a year.
"So, the remaining three years of this tenure, I think, I should make Aladja Grammar School my constituency project. In that case, I will not go and beg anybody in APC convention. It's my project. Funds from my constituency project will be used to do it."
In his address, the National President of Aladja Grammar School,Mr Andrew Okrakeme said the institution is more than just a place of learning adding that, the contributions of the Old Students, teachers and supporters of the school have played a pivotal role in maintaining the school's reputation and academic excellence. According to him, the Old Students should rededicate themselves to the growth and development of the school.
In his welcome address, the Chairman Planning Committee of the 50th Anniversary of Aladja Grammar School, Chief(Dr) Henry Afure Sakpra noted that the world is changing rapidly stressing that, the challenges facing education are evolving. "It's our responsibility as beneficiaries of this great institution to ensure that Aladja Grammar School continues to provide education for generations to come.
"We are committed launching initiatives to support the school in improving infrastructure and provide scholarships, and by this, we are giving back to the institution that gave us so much.
"I call upon all of you, my fellow Alumni to join in this noble cause whether through financial contributions, mentorship programmes or sharing your expertise,every efforts counts. Together, we can ensure that the light of knowledge that Aladja Grammar School ignited in us continues to burn brightly for future generations."
Present at the colourful event were the Hon.(Dr.)Joseph Ikpea,Ven. Gabriel Avwarodah Kpagban, Old Boys of Aladja Grammar School, Prof. Gordini Gabriel Darah, Mrs. Okurumeh Ortega Doris, Principal of the School, Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Rose Ezewu who was ably represented by the Chief Inspector of Education in Udu Local Government Area, Mr. Omosohwofa Ochuko Samson and others.
