Evangelism drive:GKS-Ijaw National launches Project and Musical Concert
In furtherance of evangelism outreach, the Ijaw National of God's Kingdom Society, the Church of the Living God has officially launched its project in Yenagoa.
The Ijaw Group National which is an integral group of the church has the flag-off ceremony which was embellished with brilliant performances and rendition of songs and hymns, created a glorious atmosphere of worship during the Total Reach Evangelism Campaign (TREC)launched at the Gks service hall, Baybridge Road, Yenagoa Bayelsa State.
Speaking on the origin of the project, Bro. Michael Senge, Chairman of Ijaw Group National disclosed that Late Minister W.W Tabor was the initiator of the Ijaw National Committee as well as pursuing evangelism in Bayelsa State leading to the formation of church branches in Sagbama, Patani, Odi, Yenagoa and Ofoni.
Brother Senge added that in all of the evangelism journey, the Late Minister Tabor was supported by Late Minister J.T Ukuta.
According to him, evangelism work will go beyond the limit of where the frontliners ended, citing Jesus' instruction which he referenced to in Matt 24:14 "This Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come".
In line with Matt 24: 14, The Ijaw Group National Chairman said, they are on the move of spreading the Gospel to the creeks where the Kings and kids live.
He added that, in continuation of the work done by the frontliners, TREC is formed by a son of Ijaw land, who is the Vice-President of God's Kingdom Society, Minister T.M Ekisowei.
Minister Benedict Hart, General Secretary, Gks who represented the President of the church at the programme said: "The Ijaw speaking members have a body, the Ijaw group, they will record some songs that they will use for evangelism in ijaw speaking areas and also recording of sermons on the doctrines of the church. He said they would also use for that same purpose of evangelism to spread and put in various online platforms, radio and television to enlighten people in these areas on what the Bible says on various doctrinal issues by God's grace".
Speaking on the importance of the programme, Minister Hart said: "The significance is that in keeping with the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:14, that the truth should be broadcast through various media by believers, this is our own contribution in that direction. I mean, the ijaw group by way of spreading the truth and also using songs. God also use the service of songs. Those HE has given the gifts because, the songs are prayers that contain the doctrines that bring comfort and joy to the believers. So, songs are also a medium of spreading the Gospel".
"It is very important for us that in Ijaw-speaking areas, they should use not only the English language but also the local language to spread the Gospel," He said
He further explained that People attended St. Urhobos Lectures because of songs as songs are a medium of evangelism. According to him, Music attracts a lot of people and the late President E.T Otomewo said songs should be composed for occasions such as creation, resurrection and the purpose of God.
Brother Idiomu, Secretary, GKS, Yenagoa branch, said the evangelism strategy is apt in spreading the gospel in fulfilment of the commandment and encouraged members to sustain the steps taken to strive in the evangelism outreach.
Idiomu appreciated the Ijaw National's resilience in the pursuit of the project in this critical time.
