Nationwide Protest: Citizens converge at strategic places, discuss possible outcome in Warri

The so much expected End-Bad-Governance protest billed to take place on the 1st August to 10th August, 2024 could not take place effectively as many individuals, organizations among others, have earlier appealed for its cancelation.

In the morning of today(Thursday), 1st August, 2024 tough security was beefed up in  Delta State especially in Warri, Effurun and environs as security agencies armed to the teeth, manned  strategic positions in the city.

PEBNEWS reports that at 12:10 pm, many people were seen gathered at  different places including the popular Effurun Roundabout, Warri Estate Roundabout, discussing in hush tunes. They were watching out for who becomes the scape goat for the day.

Our Correspondent who went round the city, discovered that many shops were not opened for businesses as the owners did not know whether the protest would hold or not as they were afraid of being attacked. Their fear was based on the fact that  hoodlums may take the advantage of the protest to vandalize their  shops.

As at the time of filling in this report, the people were still apprehensive of the situation: whether the protest would still hold or not. However, everywhere was calm.
