Nationwide Protest: Don't steal, be violent, Delta market traders warn as #Endbadgovernanceprotest# enters day 2

As the #Endbadgovernanceprotest# enters day 2,Traders under the auspices of Nupe Traders Association in Igbudu Market, Warri, Delta State today, Friday, warned protesters not to enter the market to destroy property, rob them of their  money or attack them.

Nupe Traders Association Public Relations Officer, Mr. Collins Unurayemeherhe handed down the warning during an interview with our Correspondent in Warri. 

His words: "You have the right to protest but don't be violent, do it peacefully. Don't come to the market to steal or attack. Do it peacefully, air your views and Government will listen to you."

Mr.Unurayemeherhe said the traders will not fold their arms and allow any form of violent protest, stealing, attacks and robbery to take place in the market. 

According to him, anyone caught in any incriminating act will be decisively dealt with in line with the law. He called on the security agencies to protect the protesters and the market during the protest as well as ensure that no one is intimidated, harassed and oppressed. 

Mr. Unurayemeherhe reaffirmed that Nupe Traders Association in Igbudu market will not partake in the protest because they are peaceful, loving and law abiding people. 

Mr. Unurayemeherhe commended  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ordering the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL to sell crude oil to Dangote Refinery in Naira, approving the minimum wage, the payment of students' loans and local government autonomy just as he urged the President to reduce the prices of wheat(flour), sugar, baking utensils and regulate the price of bread to mitigate the suffering of Nigerians.

According to him, the President should revitalise the moribund Delta Steel Company and open the seaports in Delta State to create employment for the citizens especially the teeming youths. 

He further said, the government should make food commodities cheap by making sure farmers tackling the menace of the killer herdsmen and other insecurity challenges and allow farmers have peace in their various farms. 

Our Correspondent who is currently monitoring the nationwide protest reports that traders opened their shops to do their businesses.
