Mother of triplets abandoned by husband begs for help in Warri
A mother of newborn triplets is appealing for urgent support after allegedly being abandoned by her husband following childbirth.
The woman, who spoke with Pebnews correspondents at Enehren Junction in Warri on Thursday, said she now begs on the streets daily with her babies to survive.
According to her, her husband fled home shortly after she gave birth. Since then, she said, the only assistance she has received has come from her church and kind-hearted individuals who encountered her on the streets.
"My church and some people who saw me and the babies in pain have been helping us," she said, fighting back tears.
The mother, who became emotional and could not provide further details, said feeding and caring for three newborns alone has become overwhelming.
She appealed to government agencies, philanthropists, and "meaningful authorities" to come to her aid.
Efforts by our correspondent to reach her church pastor through the contact number provided were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
Residents and passersby at Enehren Junction have also called on the Delta State Government and relevant welfare bodies to intervene and support the young mother and her triplets.
