Emuedo Praises Afiesere President General, Umukoro On Achievements
A respected opinion leader in Afiesere Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Ese Emuedo, has commended the President General of Afiesere Community, Mr. Luke Umukoro, for what he described as notable achievements recorded during his first two years in office.
Emuedo, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Uherevie Host Community Development Trust (HCDT), OML 30, said Umukoro's administration had demonstrated a commitment to community development through strategic engagements with government agencies and other stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion of Umukoro's second anniversary in office, Emuedo said the administration had made significant progress in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment and welfare.
He particularly highlighted the attraction of road and street-lighting projects through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), noting that the projects had begun to improve accessibility and enhance the environment within the community.
According to him, another major achievement is the completion of the 60MVA transformer project by the Federal Government, which he said would significantly improve electricity supply in Afiesere and neighbouring communities.
Emuedo also praised the administration's intervention in education, especially the payment of examination enrolment fees for students sitting for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.
He said the initiative would help ensure that financial constraints do not prevent indigent students from pursuing their educational aspirations.
On youth development, Emuedo noted that the community leadership had also introduced skills acquisition programmes designed to equip young people with practical skills in areas including tailoring, information and communication technology (ICT), welding and agribusiness.
He said the initiative would enhance self-reliance among youths and create opportunities for them to become employers of labour.
The community leader further commended the administration for establishing welfare interventions for elderly members of the community, describing the initiative as an indication of an inclusive approach to leadership.
Emuedo urged the people of Afiesere to continue supporting the community leadership, stressing that sustained unity, cooperation and constructive engagement would be necessary to attract more development projects.
He also expressed appreciation to Council of Chiefs in Afiesere Community, members of the executive council, women, youths and other stakeholders for their support, while acknowledging the contributions of the NDDC and Federal Government to development efforts in Afiesere.
He said the achievements recorded in the first two years should be regarded as a foundation for greater development in the years ahead.
