At just 16 years old, Osasere Okundaye has etched her name into Nigeria's history books after becoming the youngest person ever to qualify as a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

The remarkable feat has drawn nationwide praise, with Ayodele Olawande describing her achievement as a powerful testament to the limitless potential of Nigerian youths when equipped with determination, discipline, and resilience.

In a statement on Monday, the Minister of Youth Development hailed Okundaye as "a shining example of the limitless potential of Nigerian youth," urging young Nigerians to dream boldly, remain focused, and pursue excellence despite challenges.

Olawande also acknowledged the critical role played by her parents, teachers, and mentors, noting that their unwavering support, guidance, and sacrifices were instrumental in helping the teenage prodigy achieve the extraordinary milestone.

He reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to creating opportunities and strengthening initiatives that will enable young Nigerians to discover, nurture, and maximize their talents.

Okundaye's accomplishment surpasses the previous national record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who became Nigeria's youngest chartered accountant at the age of 17.

Widely regarded as one of the country's most rigorous professional qualifications, the ICAN certification often requires years of intensive study and preparation, even for university graduates and experienced professionals. Okundaye's success at just 16 years old makes her achievement one of the most exceptional academic and professional milestones recorded in Nigeria's accounting profession.
