Tension in Bayelsa: Former Ogboinbiri youth president killed amid lingering leadership crisis

Anxiety gripped Ogboinbiri Community in Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa State, Tuesday morning following reports that a former Youth President was killed amid ongoing leadership disputes within the community’s youth structure.

Community sources confirmed the killing occurred early Tuesday, but the circumstances remain unclear. Security agencies have not issued an official statement on the incident as of press time.

Ogboinbiri has been embroiled in internal crisis in recent months, with tensions centered on disagreements over youth leadership decisions, constitutional interpretations, and control of the youth body.

Residents described the atmosphere in the oil-rich community as tense but controlled, with calls for restraint to prevent escalation.  

The Bayelsa State Police Command could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
