Commodore Omatseye Nesiama (rtd) and his wife, Mrs. Roli Nesiama, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, gave their daughter, Oritsemoyogbemi Oritsetimeyin Nesiama, out in marriage to Uchenna Jeffery Anorue of Imo State, in a ceremony rich with Itsekiri customs and traditions.

The wedding, held at Kratos Ballroom along Refinery Road, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, was a vibrant display of both Itsekiri and Igbo cultures. Traditional dancers entertained guests with energetic performances, while the venue reflected a blend of colorful cultural elements from both regions.

Speaking to our Tourism, Culture & Entertainment Correspondent, Commodore Nesiama advised the newlyweds, saying, “The couple should always remember their love from the beginning even when things would seem to have changed. This is what will keep them going.”

He added that the event went beyond a traditional wedding, describing it as a “unification of cultures, tribes, religion, and businesses,” while also empowering the guests who attended.

The guests experienced a lavish reception, with a wide variety of meals ranging from Continental to African dishes, accompanied by assorted drinks. What began as simple wedding souvenirs quickly turned into substantial empowerment packages for attendees.

Male guests received caps and T-shirts, while women were gifted ready-made clothing and wrappers. Food items such as packaged garri, palm oil, Maggi cubes, and detergents were also included in the souvenirs, with many guests going home with multiple packages.

Commodore Nesiama, defying expectations of his military background, impressed attendees with traditional dance moves alongside his wife, demonstrating joy and cultural pride. “Oga will have to tell us where you learnt those dance steps because they were not ordinary, Sir!” remarked an onlooker.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the Managing Director of TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi, High Chief Tunde Smooth, the Bolowei of the Niger Delta, Chief Francis Omatseye, Brig. Gen. Efe Edafioghor (rtd), Hon. (Chief) Julius Takeme, Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, and Chief Oma Eyewuoma, Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, among others.
