Breakdown of Leadership Behind Nigeria’s Worsening Violence - GKS
The President of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), Church of the Living God, Brother Felix Ekundayo Adedokun, has warned that the growing incidents of killings, kidnappings and other violent crimes across Nigeria are clear signs of failed leadership and moral decay.
He stated this on Friday during a world press conference in Salem City, Warri, where he expressed deep concern over what he described as the increasing cheapness of human life in the country.
According to him, the repeated shedding of blood reflects a breakdown of responsibility at both leadership and societal levels.
Adedokun explained that no nation could thrive where citizens live in fear, and where criminality appears to flourish due to weak systems, poor governance and the absence of righteousness. He stressed that leaders must rise to their obligations before the situation worsens.
The GKS President said the press conference was also convened to highlight the importance of the annual Christian Feast of Tabernacles, but noted that the continuous loss of lives in the country demanded urgent national introspection on leadership and accountability.
He gave praise and thanks to God Almighty for the opportunity to address the media, noting that the Feast of Tabernacles scheduled to hold in Salem City, Warri, from December 14 to 21 remains a divinely ordained festival for Christians in this age.
Brother Adedokun explained that the Feast of Tabernacles was instituted by God as a celebration of liberation, joy and gratitude, and a period for the expounding of God’s word, citing Leviticus 23:33–43 and Deuteronomy 31:10–13.
He reminded Christians that Jesus Christ himself participated actively in the Feast during his earthly ministry, teaching the people and setting an example for believers to follow.
The GKS President stressed that the observance of the Feast is a prophetic command, referring to Zechariah 14:16–19, which states that all nations must keep the Feast of Tabernacles. According to him, the festival is a compulsory act of worship for God’s people today.
He explained that the Feast is now celebrated “antitypically,” meaning Christians follow the spirit of the law and not the letters. As such, worshippers no longer need to gather in Jerusalem nor offer animal sacrifices because Jesus Christ has become the perfect sacrifice for all believers.
Highlighting this year’s programme, he said the eight-day celebration will feature public lectures, solemn assemblies, street processions, songs, sermons and a Christian Music Festival involving more than 15 choral groups.
The climax will be the Last and Great Day Holy Convocation, where he will deliver an address titled “Passing the Time of Our Sojourning Here in Fear.”
On the state of the nation, the GKS President lamented the surge in kidnappings, killings, destruction of farmlands, rapes and other forms of violence, describing them as manifestations of Satan’s intensified activities in these last days.
He condemned the kidnapping of citizens for ransom, warning perpetrators that God’s judgment awaits them unless they repent.
According to him, whatever is gained through deceit or bloodshed carries a curse and will ultimately bring destruction upon the offenders.
Brother Adedokun urged Nigerians to embrace righteousness, peace and love for their neighbours, noting that these virtues are the only way the nation can enjoy divine mercy and relief from worsening conditions.
He also reminded leaders at all levels that they must rule in the fear of God and give account of their stewardship someday.
He concluded by calling on all mankind to seek God’s Kingdom, which alone offers true hope for suffering humanity, and appealed to journalists to continue supporting the truth for the benefit of society.
He prayed for God’s blessing and protection upon all who promote righteousness.
