A Niger Deltan human right activist, Comrade (Amb.) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen  on Thursday urged the United Nations Human Rights, UNHR, United Nations, UN, the National Assembly (Nigerian Senate House of Representatives) and the Headquarters, HQ of the Nigerian Army to immediately commence an unbiased investigation into the tragic murder of unarmed women and children allegedly by Soldiers during a peaceful protest in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

This is contained in a statement by Agberen.

Agberen said, "This unjust and inhumane act, carried out by men in uniform, demands justice and an immediate and thorough investigation. Who gave the order to shoot unarmed women and children in such a manner?"

According to Agberen, "It's unfortunate that Nigeria's internal security affairs are being handled by the Nigerian Army, which contradicts the constitution."

He suggested that,"Internal security should be handled by the Nigerian Police and Mobile Police Force, but due to control issues, the Nigerian Army has taken over the duties of the Nigeria Police Force."

Agberen said the Nigerian Army should prioritize its efforts on combating bandits and terrorists, rather than vulnerable women who require protection, particularly during these challenging times.

"However, the families of the victims deserve justice, and the broader community deserves assurance that such inhumane acts will never reoccur. Regardless, the Nigerian Army must take  responsibility for the actions of their men."
