The Delta State Police Command has announced two major breakthroughs in its sustained crackdown on cult groups, armed criminality, and the proliferation of locally fabricated firearms.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the coordinated operations conducted in Agbor and Warri reflect the Command’s renewed resolve to enhance public safety and dismantle criminal networks across the State.

On 8 November 2025, at about 5:35 p.m., operatives of the Agbor Division, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Ojeifo Street by Iduwe, where suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity were reportedly converging.

The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Michael Obekpa, led patrol teams and the Civilian Anti-Cult Unit to the scene.

Two suspects Agu Nnamdi of Ohumere Quarters, Agbor, and Promise Banco of Iduwe Street, Agbor-Obi were arrested. Officers also recovered a locally fabricated pistol concealed inside a black nylon bag.

The Command said the suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the gang.

In a separate operation on 16 November 2025, surveillance operatives of ‘B’ Division, Warri, led by CSP Josephine Ekebuike, intercepted a tricycle rider exhibiting suspicious behavior along Arubi Street, off DECO Road.

The suspect, who had two passengers onboard, reportedly drove aggressively against traffic, prompting officers to give chase.

The pursuit led into First Marine Quarters, where the suspects abandoned the tricycle and escaped on foot through adjoining streets.

Upon searching the abandoned tricycle, officers discovered two locally made double-barrelled guns, nine mobile phones, four power banks, and a screwdriver,  believed to have been left behind by the fleeing suspects.

Police have since intensified stop-and-search operations in the area and cordoned off strategic points to apprehend the culprits.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to rooting out criminal elements across Delta State. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to law enforcement agencies.

He assured the public that all information shared with the Police would be treated with “the utmost confidentiality,” adding that the Command remains unwavering in its mission to maintain a secure environment for all law-abiding citizens.
