DCP Olumuyiwa's deployment to Delta calls for concern, right activist,Agberen declares

A human right activist, Comrade (Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen today said the promotion of DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and his subsequent deployment to Delta State Police Command in charge of Operations in addition to the appointment of CSP Benjamin Hundeyin as new Force Public Relations Officer,FPRO raises serious concerns.
Following DCP Olumuyiwa's deployment to Delta,Agberen said tribalism, nepotism and favouritism appears to be prevalent in the Nigeria Police Force,NPF.
This is contained in a statement by Comrade Agberen this morning.
He noted that,"The unity of Nigeria lies in the diversity of its ethnic groups and fair representation in public offices."
He pointed out that,"This principle has not been upheld in the Police Force, similar to the military, where power is concentrated in the North under Northern presidents, and reportedly continues under President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where power is centered in the West."
According to Comrade Agberen,"Are there no other capable and qualified police officers in the Nigeria Police Force from other regions apart from Westerners?
"To crown it up, the previous Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delta State, now CP Aina Adesola was Yoruba.
"These are irregularities that other State governments wouldn’t tolerate.
"Interestingly, the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is also Yoruba.
"While other State Governors sees it as opportunity to prioritize the wellbeing and elevate their indigenes serving in the Police Force as their ADC’s, the Delta State Government has never considered this regard in the past years."
He urged the Delta State Government led by RT.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to strive for greater balance.
He insisted that,"The principle of equal treatment should be upheld, and certain offices should be reserved for indigenes of the state, as in the case in Edo State and other similar contexts, where ethnic representation is a key consideration".
