Delta Police Nab Armed Robbery Suspects in Ughelli, Recover Stolen Cars, Weapons, and Illicit Drugs

The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its crime-fighting operations in Ughelli, leading to the arrest of suspected armed robbers and the recovery of stolen vehicles, arms, and a large quantity of illicit drugs.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a press statement on Monday, stressing that the development reflects the Command’s renewed determination to rid the state of criminal activities.
According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-driven operations carried out by tactical units of the Command. The raid not only led to the arrest of notorious gang members but also the recovery of vehicles suspected to have been stolen during recent robbery incidents in Ughelli and its environs. In addition, firearms and assorted ammunition were seized, alongside quantities of drugs believed to have been intended for illicit sale.
SP Edafe explained that investigations are ongoing to trace the full network of the suspects, while assuring that those in custody will be prosecuted in line with the law. He added that efforts are being made to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
“This latest breakthrough underscores our commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents across Delta State. We will not relent until every criminal element is brought to justice,” the police spokesperson said.
He also urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, stressing the importance of community partnership in policing. “We call on members of the public to continue to provide credible information to the Command. Together, we can make Delta a safer place for all,” Edafe added.
The Ughelli axis, which has in recent months witnessed heightened reports of armed robbery, cult-related violence, and car theft, has been a priority area for security agencies. The latest arrests are expected to boost public confidence and reduce fear among residents and business owners in the area.
Community leaders have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention by the police. They expressed hope that sustained security operations will help restore peace and ensure that criminal activities do not resurface.
With this latest operation, the Delta State Police Command has once again reaffirmed its resolve to clamp down on crime and maintain law and order across the state.
