Trailer Crushes Tricycle at Udu Bridge, Traffic Gridlock Leaves Commuters, Workers Stranded

A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of today at the Udu Bridge area, involving a trailer reportedly belonging to Julius Berger and a commercial Keke (tricycle). The trailer is said to have fallen on the tricycle, causing panic among bystanders and commuters.
As at the time of filing this report, the number of casualties remains unconfirmed. Eyewitnesses told PEB News that emergency services had yet to arrive at the scene as of early morning, raising concerns about possible fatalities.
It was a Julius Berger trailer. It just tipped and landed on the Keke. We don’t know how many people were inside,” one witness told reporters.
The incident caused major traffic congestion, leaving many motorists and tricycle riders stranded, and disrupting the morning commute for workers, students, and business operators heading into Warri and surrounding areas.
Pedestrians were also seen navigating through congested alternate routes as emergency responders struggled to access the scene.
This is the only bridge many of us use to get to work. Now people are turning back or trekking,” said a visibly frustrated commuter.
This latest accident has renewed public concern over road safety, especially involving heavy-duty trucks operating in densely populated areas. Commuters are calling for stricter regulation of trailer movement during peak hours and for authorities to enforce routine safety checks on construction and logistics vehicles especially at the Udu bridge Axis.
As at press time, relevant authorities have not issued an official statement. Meanwhile, residents and road users are urging the Delta State Government and emergency agencies to respond swiftly, clear the wreckage, and provide accurate information on casualties.
