Delta Showcases Bold Development Strides Ahead Of Oborevwori’s Second Anniversary

With less than two weeks to mark the second anniversary of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, the Delta State Government has rolled out a comprehensive list of achievements, underscoring significant progress in infrastructure, healthcare, housing, and job creation across the state.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing in Asaba on Thursday, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, described the administration’s performance as “bold, visible, and transformative,” particularly in areas previously underserved.
“In just under two years, Governor Oborevwori’s government has delivered a series of impactful projects that are reshaping both rural and urban communities,” Aniagwu stated, alongside the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.
Aniagwu noted that road projects have reduced travel time between major cities like Asaba and Ughelli to approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, while also improving access to hard-to-reach coastal communities.
“Construction on the Trans-Warri bridges and roads in Ode-Itsekiri is advancing rapidly, and we’ve revived the Ayakoromo Bridge project in Burutu LGA — a critical link for creekside settlements,” he said.
As part of activities to celebrate the administration’s second anniversary, Aniagwu revealed that a number of key infrastructure projects are ready for commissioning. These include:
* Beneku Bridge
* Ishiagu-Ewulu Road and Bridge
* Upper and Lower Erejuwa Roads, Warri
* Erosion control project in Okpanam
* Olomoro-Igbide Road
* Otolokpo–Boji-Boji Owa link
* Akumazi-Owere-Olubor Road
* Obi-Ibabu Road
“In some cases, due to the sheer volume of completed projects, members of the State Executive Council will represent the Governor at inauguration events,” he noted.
Aniagwu highlighted critical upgrades in the state’s healthcare facilities, including the installation of advanced medical equipment at Asaba Specialist Hospital, Warri Central Hospital, and DELSUTH Oghara.
In response to rising housing demand, the government has initiated a pilot residential project in Ozoro, Owa-Oyibu, and Kwale, comprising 30 three-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom flats per location. Each of Delta’s 25 LGAs will eventually host 50 new housing units.
Aniagwu disclosed that over 250,000 residents have benefited from empowerment initiatives, including the D-CARES grants and other inter-ministerial programmes aimed at boosting entrepreneurship and livelihoods.
On security, he said the government has supported the police with operational vehicles and improved street lighting across urban centres. “We are committed to creating a safer Delta where residents and investors feel secure,” he affirmed.
Despite the ramp-up in political activities ahead of 2027, Aniagwu assured that governance remains the administration’s top priority. “Governor Oborevwori has directed all officials to stay focused and deliver on the M.O.R.E. agenda — Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security.”
He also rebuffed criticisms suggesting a lack of direction. “Anyone claiming this government has lost focus is completely out of touch. The evidence is visible across the state,” he asserted.
According to Aniagwu, all projects are paid for only after proper certification, reflecting the government’s commitment to transparency and responsible resource management.
“Delta is on a path of sustained progress,” he concluded. “We will pcontinue to work with honesty, inclusiveness, and a strong people-centered focus.”
