APC Governors back Tinubu’s reforms: “We Stand With Him All the Way”

Despite mounting public frustration over the country’s economic challenges, governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform-driven administration, describing it as a bold path to long-term recovery.
After a closed-door meeting held Wednesday in Abuja, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, expressed confidence in the direction of the Tinubu-led government, asserting that the president's policies, though initially controversial, are beginning to gain broad recognition at home and abroad.
“At the onset of this administration, there was a loud chorus of criticism from the opposition regarding these reforms. But today, the president is being vindicated,” Uzodimma remarked.
He noted that international financial institutions such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), which once watched cautiously, are now commending the administration’s economic strategy.
The high-level meeting brought together APC governors, federal ministers, and party leaders to assess the administration’s progress, enhance internal party unity, and chart the course for advancing Tinubu’s development vision.
Uzodimma underscored that internal democracy and unity within the party remain central to its progress. “This administration is a product of our collective efforts as progressive governors. Everyone present here today is APC, regardless of their official role. We’ve gathered to celebrate recent progress and reaffirm our commitment to Nigeria’s future,” he said.
He also revealed that part of the meeting focused on strategies to support party loyalists and ordinary Nigerians who have continued to stand by the APC despite the harsh economic realities.
“We owe our support to a courageous leader who is determined to reposition Nigeria for long-term growth,” he added.
As President Tinubu’s second year in office approaches, the PGF chairman announced that plans are already in motion to commemorate the milestone.
“The APC National Working Committee will soon roll out the programme of events, with active participation from all quarters,” Uzodimma noted.
Also speaking at the meeting, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the gathering as a strategic session among party stakeholders.
“This was a private meeting of APC governors, ministers, and National Working Committee members,” Idris said. “It was a chance to evaluate the administration’s achievements so far. We are proud of the progress made and confident there’s much more to show.”
