Zamfara State Governor has officially inaugurated the newly upgraded Government Arabic Girls' School in Gusau, previously known as the Women Arabic Secondary School, following a comprehensive renovation project.
The project, which was awarded in January 2022, was completed within 13 months, with the commissioning ceremony held on May 14, 2025.
The newly refurbished school now boasts 73 classrooms and 74 structures, including administrative blocks, staff offices, ICT centers, kitchens, hostels, modern toilet facilities, a security post, and more. The upgraded facilities aim to enhance learning, especially for girls seeking Arabic and Islamic education within a modern academic environment.
According to officials present at the commissioning, the enrollment fee is set at ₦60,000, although further details on financial aid or scholarships were not immediately disclosed.
The Governor, while addressing attendees, praised the timely completion of the project and emphasized his administration’s commitment to improving access to quality education for girls across Zamfara State.
He noted that education — particularly for girls — remains a cornerstone of development in the state’s long-term vision.
The inauguration was attended by top government officials, education stakeholders, and traditional leaders, who lauded the transformation and pledged support for sustaining the gains made.
