Amaseikumor Festival 2025: Keyamo, Yahaya, Mulade call for peace, unity amongst Nigerians

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo SAN and the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya and popular environmental right activist, Comrade Sheriff Mulade today said Nigerians should live in peace and unity. 

The leaders made the call during the grand finale of Amaseikumor Festival 2025 held at Oporoza, Headquarters in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. 

In a chat with newsmen, Chief Keyamo which is celebrated by the Ijaws of Gbaramatu Kingdom preached peace amongst the ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region.

According to the lawyer, "Amaseikumor festival represents the people of Niger Delta. We must do everything as a people to preserve our culture and traditions. This is our identity as a people.". 

Also, in a chat with newsmen, the National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya commended the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom for organizing the Amaseikumor festival. While noting that it's a way of preserving the Nigerian curlure, Comrade Yahaya also encouraged the various ethnic groups and tribes in the country to showcase their culture to the world. 

He added that Nigerian should promote  things that will bring unity to the country. 

Comrade Yahaya also prayed that God Almighty gives the people of Gbaramatu the strength to sustain their culture through the Amaseikumor festival. 

An environmental right activist, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, said the essence of the festival is to promote peace amongst the Ijaw Nation and the people of Nigeria. 

He said, political gladiators in the country should take advantage of the festival by promoting peace instead of war. 

"It is important for us to work as a people in unity because there will be peace across the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large." He stated

Our  correspondent who covered the event reports that Oporoza Community, headquarters of Gbaramatu became a sort of mecca as tourists, traditional and culture enthusiasts and worshippers joined the people of Gbaramatu in the celebration.
