PTI Has Zero Tolerance For Social Vices- Engr. Dr Onoji Tells Newly Admitted Students

The Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, Engr Dr Samuel E.Onoji said the institution has zero tolerance for social vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse among others. He said any student found wanting in any of the social vices would be shown the way out of the school system.
Engr Dr. Onoji gave the warning yesterday Friday, at the matriculation of 2024/2025 academic session for the full time and school of industrial Continuing Education students.
He said:" As you begin your studies, l want to emphasize that the institute has zero tolerance for social vices such as examination malpractice, physical and sexual assault, cultism, use of drugs, narcotics, theft, robbery, certificate forgeries, indecent dressing and prostitution, stealing..."
He charged the students to uphold the highest standards of behaviour, respect and integrity which are in line with the existing rules and regulations that have been spelt out the Students' Handbook. The Principal/Chief Executive Officer of the institution advised the students to pay attention to hard work, dedication to studies with perseverance. His words:" Be focused and determined: set clear goals for yourself and work diligently to achieve them. Be curious and innovative and take advantage of our state of the art facilities and resources to explore new ideas and solutions..."
According to him, the institution is dedicated to the training of middle-level manpower for the oil and gas Industry as its programmes are designed to equip the students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to excel in the dynamic and highly technical field. He said, the institute has qualified staff capable of providing World-Class Technical Vocational Education and training in the Oil and Gas Industry.
He said: l am proud to lead a team of dedicated staff who are committed to providing you with World-Class Technical Vocational Education and training in Oil and Gas Industry. Our staff are experienced professionals who will guide and mentor you throughout your academic journey".
Engr. Dr Onoji said, oil and gas industry is a highly competitive and dynamic as it demands professionals who are adaptable, innovative and committed to excellence, this class of persons the staff are. He assured them of safe and conducive environment for their study that would enhance growth and personal development.
According to him, the institute has established international collaborations and partnerships that enhance its curriculum, facilities and research capabilities that are industry-focused and aligned with the industry to address identified skill gaps in the oil sector.
Engr. Dr. Onoji used the medium to thank President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu who, through his Renewed Hope Agenda, has instituted NELFUND, a zero interest loan scheme that provides financial support to students to cover schools fees, and monthly upkeep saying, the scheme is to the benefit of both the old and new students as they can apply for the loan on-line to help themselves in this direction. The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of matriculation oath on the students by the Principal/ Chief Executive Officer of the school, Engr Dr. Onoji amidst jubilation.
