In a move to bolster the leadership of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), President Bola Tinubu has appointed four new members to its Governing Council. The latest appointments, aimed at filling vacant positions, are expected to enhance the board’s effectiveness in overseeing local content development in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Announcing the appointments in a statement on Thursday, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga revealed that Mr. Olusegun Omosehin from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and Engr. Wole Ogunsanya of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) have been named as new council members.

Additionally, Mazi Sam Azoka Onyechi will serve as the representative of the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum (NCCF), while Barrister Owei Oyanbo joins from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Their appointments follow the departure of previous representatives from the council.

The NCDMB Governing Council, established under Section 69 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, 2010, plays a crucial role in driving local content policies. Its members are drawn from key institutions, including the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), PETAN, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), NCCF, and NAICOM.

President Tinubu urged the newly appointed members to bring their expertise and dedication to the table, stating that their contributions will be instrumental in “enhancing local content development within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.”
