Fuel crisis: businesswoman laments rising costs, impact on sales
A businesswoman, Madam Beatrice Akachi, has Tuesday lamented the devastating impact of the ongoing fuel crisis in Nigeria on her business.
In an interview with PEBNEWS in Warri, Delta State, Madam Akachi shared her struggles with rising costs of goods and transportation.
"I started my business with Zobo and expanded over time to include other products," Madam Akachi explained. "However, the current fuel crisis has made it challenging for me to maintain my business."
Due to the lack of electricity, Madam Akachi spends a significant amount on buying blocks of ice to keep her products cold. Despite spending over N100,000 on repiping, the issue persists.
The increase in fuel prices has also led to a surge in transportation costs, further exacerbating the challenges faced by Madam Akachi. "The fuel crisis has impacted my sales, making it difficult to balance my books and make profits," she said.
Madam Akachi emphasized that her priority is to make her customers happy rather than maximizing profits. "But it's challenging when the prices of goods and transportation keep increasing," she lamented.
Madam Akachi's story reflects the struggles faced by many small-scale entrepreneurs in Nigeria. As the fuel crisis continues, the future of businesses like hers remains uncertain.
