Tellectual FC has continued to take criminals off Delta streets through football says Etsu-Nupe, Tajudeen
The Etsu-Nupe of Warri and its environs, Alhaji Zuberu Mohammed Tajudeen today said the Director of Tellectual FC of Warri, Akpovona Ibor has continued to take criminals out of the streets of Warri through football. Alhaji Tajudeen made the assertion during an interview with Our Correspondent in Warri.
Etsu-Nupe said this is just the little way of Akpovona ibor's contribution to the development of the society and country in general.
According to him, he(Alhaji Tajudeen) trained Akpovona Ibor as a footballer during his days as a football coach and expressed delight that Akpovona Ibor is now an owner of a football club known as Tellectual FC of Warri.
He pointed out that he(Akpovona) organized a football match at Pessu Primary School yesterday, January 2 where shared free jerseys to participants and non-participants. He said: "Akpovona did well for them"
He stressed that the field was filled to capacity with more than ten thousand(10,000)persons who came to watch the football match between Ogedegbe home-based and Ogedegbe foreign- based.
He said, Ogedegbe home- based defeated Ogedegbe foreign- based which Akpovona played for, 2:1.
"Akpovona is a fine player. Tellectual FC have just won a tournament at Orerokpe and they went home with five million naira(#5 million).
"Last two weeks, he took two boys to Europe. Now, he has taken about four boys last week to Europe again. He is a good Director of that Tellectual FC of Warri. Most of the boys that play for Tellectual FC are qualified players. They're doing well. I pray he should do more for them."
Alhaji Tajudeen also disclosed that Akpovona Ibor organized a street carnival for the people of Ogedegbe Street where he treated them to a lavish reception immediately after the football match yesterday.
"Akpovona wants to take criminals from the streets through football and he has been doing this by identifying talents and building them to capacity.
"Many people came to me this morning that they want to join that club(Tellectual FC). The club has come to stay and by the grace of God, he will do well.", he concluded.
