Adam and Eve ate nothing, eating doesn’t make you sinful, Pastor Damina says
The founder of Abel Damina Ministries and Power City International, Pastor Abel Damina, has sparked controversy by questioning the conventional interpretation of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden.
During his New Year's Eve sermon, Damina argued that eating the forbidden fruit may not have been the cause of their sin.
Damina pointed out that the Bible does not explicitly state that Adam and Eve ate the fruit. "Adam and Eve ate nothing. Were you there? You were not there. So how do we know whether they ate something or not?" he asked.
Instead, Damina emphasized that Jesus, who was present in the spiritual realm, would have a more accurate understanding of the events.
Citing Mark 7:18-21, Damina stressed that it is not what one eats or drinks that makes them a sinner. "It is not what people eat that makes them sinners. It is not what you eat. You cannot be a sinner by eating or drinking something," he said.
Damina also addressed the topics of smoking and drinking, stating that these actions are not inherently sinful. However, he clarified that he was not encouraging such behaviors, emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility and self-awareness.
Ultimately, Damina argued that it is not external actions, but rather the thoughts and intentions of the heart, that determine one's spiritual state.
"What makes you a sinner is what you're thinking, not what you're eating," he concluded.
