Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has made a case for the creation of additional Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state, citing the need for administrative convenience and better service delivery.

Otti, who spoke at a civic reception ceremony in Ikwuano, argued that some LGAs in the state are too large to remain as single entities.

The Governor emphasized that his administration is committed to creating more LGAs in Abia State, with the goal of improving governance and service delivery to the people. He specifically mentioned Ikwuano as one of the LGAs that should be split into two or more, due to its large size and geographical structure.

In addition to his advocacy for more LGAs, Otti also discussed his administration's plans for 2025, including a major project to provide potable drinking water to Abians. The project will utilize direct labor and feature the deployment of industrial drilling rigs to communities across the state.

Otti also took the opportunity to encourage young people to work hard, believe in themselves, and pursue their dreams. He congratulated the celebrants, Dr. Monday Ubani and Chief Davidson S.C Alaribe, on their achievements and assured them that bigger accomplishments lie ahead.

The Governor also addressed the issue of road infrastructure in Ikwuano, promising to work with Senator Austin Akobundu to ensure the completion of the Ariam-Usaka Road project in 2025. He reiterated his commitment to working with all elected political leaders and parties to develop the state.

Senator Akobundu, who chaired the occasion, pledged his support for Governor Otti's development agenda and emphasized the need for collaboration to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Abia State.
