Delta State Youth Wing Camp 2024: Nigeria Red Cross Society promotes resilience and humanitarian service
The Delta State Youth Wing Camp 2024, organized by the Nigeria Red Cross Society, officially kicked off on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Nana College, Warri.
PEBNEWS reports that the five-day event, which concludes on December 19, 2024, is themed "Resilience in Action."
Charles Arinomor, Delta State Branch Secretary, Nigeria Red Cross Society, emphasized the importance of resilience in humanitarian service. "As Red Cross volunteers, we must be prepared to face challenges and overcome obstacles to reach the most vulnerable," he said.
The camp aims to equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed to provide humanitarian services, particularly in disaster management and first aid. Arinomor noted that the Red Cross has been actively involved in supporting communities affected by the 2024 floods, providing cash assistance and relief materials to over 1,100 households.
The Delta State Youth Wing Camp 2024 is proudly sponsored by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and PEBNEWS. The event has brought together young people from 25 local government areas of the state, providing a platform for them to share ideas, learn from each other, and develop their skills in humanitarian service.
Arinomor encouraged young people to join the Red Cross and become part of a global movement that promotes humanitarian values and provides service to vulnerable communities. "Volunteerism is key to humanitarian existence," he said. "We invite young people to join us and make a difference in their communities."
