Yabagi Sani Demands Accountability and Transparency from NNPC
Prominent energy expert and politician, Engr. Yabagi Sani, has expressed concerns over the operations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), labeling it an institution "run as a company with no honor." Sani emphasized the need for urgent reforms in accountability and transparency within the state-owned oil giant.
During a media briefing, Sani lamented that the NNPC has operated without oversight or consequence, allowing individuals to act with impunity. "The issue isn’t just technical inefficiencies; it’s about integrity and governance. NNPC has for too long functioned as a law unto itself," he said.
Sani's statement adds to the growing calls from stakeholders demanding transparency in the management of Nigeria's oil and gas sector. He believes that addressing these concerns could pave the way for a more equitable distribution of national wealth and bolster public trust in the sector.
