INEC pays courtesy visit to Gbaramatu Kingdom, seeks support for voter registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri Southwest Local Government Area of Delta State. 

The visit, led by Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, Hon. Rec, from INEC's State Head Office in Asaba, aimed to solicit support from critical stakeholders ahead of the upcoming election.

During the visit, Sir Etekamba emphasized the importance of the kingdom's support in mobilizing its people to participate in the voter registration exercise.

According to his words, "Your Majesty, sooner or later in the new year, we are going to start the process of voter's registration exercise. That is why, we have come to you to say, when the time comes, we need you to help us in mobilizing your people to come out and register, and those who for circumstances beyond their control, even though they were more than 18 at that time, would not register, They are also eligible to register and they will get their voters cards. 

"We, as an institution, we don't want to disenfranchise any other one. We want all adults to participate in the election process." He stated.

His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, assured INEC of the kingdom's full participation in the registration process. 

Chief Hon. Friday Bobo, speaking on behalf of the Pere, said, "It has always been the duty of His Royal Majesty to mobilize our people for various exercises. We are peace-loving people, and we will ensure the security of workers and materials involved in the process."

The visit demonstrates INEC's commitment to engaging with critical stakeholders and ensuring the success of the upcoming election.
