NBA, Akpomudje, Asala, others mourn Utuama
The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Udu Branch, Life Bencher and Senior Advocate, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje SAN, Ayo Asala SAN and others have mourned the departure of Prof. Amos Utuama SAN, former Deputy Governor of Delta State.
Utuama, a member of NBA Udu reportedly died in Warri in the early hours of Saturday after a protracted illness. He was aged 77.
According to a statement by Edmund John Odohisi Esq, Chairman NBA Udu, "The IROKO of Udu Branch has passed to rest with the Lord, may his legal soul rest in peace.
"On behalf of the Branch, I commiserates with his family, Ughievwen Kingdom, and NBA Udu, please accept our deepest condolences."
In his reaction, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje SAN, Otota of Olomu Kingdom described late Utuama as a renowned law teacher and Senior Advocate of Nigeria who contributed immensely to the Nigerian law development.
According to him, "I mourn the passing of a gentleman of the Bar, and a scholar. I received the devastating news of his death with great shock. Utuama demonstrated commitment to the development of law in Nigeria as a academic."
"I am saddened to lose a colleague and a Senior Advocate from my area. Urhobo has lost a great son. I commensurate his family and Ughievwen Kingdom."
On his part, Ayo Asala SAN said, "My Mentor and Leader has just passed on. May your soul rest in peace, His Excellency, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama, SAN. You impacted my life positively and several others. May your soul rest in peace, Agballa!"
A law lecturer at the Delta State University, Abraka and member of NBA Udu, Dr. A.C.E Abuza said, "The news of the demise of Professor Amos Agbe Utuama , former Attorney - General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, former Deputy - Governor of Delta State , Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria came to me with great pains in my heart.
"He was a gentleman to the core and father to all, an amiable personality, a friend and father. May the good Lord rest his noble and learned soul peacefully in his bosom until we shall meet to part no more. Adieu my leader, teacher, Professor, Attorney - General and Deputy - Governor!
