Adaji emerges Benue PDP Chairman, as party elects new Exco
Former House of Representatives member for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, Ezekiel Adaji has emerged the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue state.
The former lawmaker and 26 others emerged members of the new State Working Committee, SWC, of the party at the end of the state congress of the party held Thursday in Makurdi.
Adaji who was the popular choice of the delegates polled a total of 2,482 votes to emerge victorious.
Also elected at the congress were the State Secretary, Dan Nyikwagh, State Public Secretary, Tim Nyor, the Youth Leader, Ibya Terkimbi and Women leader, Mrs. Alice Albert among others.
The leader of Benue State PDP Congress Electoral Committee, Alh Ibrahim Shaba had disclosed that a total of 2,910 names made up the list of delegate while 2,900 were accredited for the congress.
Announcing the results at the end of the exercise which lasted over 10 hours, Alhaji Ibrahim, said "Chief Ezekiel Adaji polled a total of 2,482 votes to emerge winner."
He was immediately sworn in alongside other Exco members by the Caretaker Committee Legal Officer, Mr. Friday Ejembi.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly inaugurated members, Chief Adaji said he was overwhelmed by the massive support given to them by members of the party.
He said: "Our state is in need of leadership and my state Exco will not disappoint. We will ensure our party bounces back to power.
"We are going to hit the ground running and we shall take immediate steps to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party as we intend to set up a reconciliation committee immediately."
