TY Danjuma Donates Solar-Powered Mortuary to Taraba Hospital
The former Minister of Defense, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), has built an ultra-modern mortuary for the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo.
Speaking on Thursday in Jalingo during the commissioning of the morgue, Danjuma revealed that an unfortunate incident involving the mother of his lawyer spurred him to donate the facility.
He said, "The Barrister's mother died and was brought here, and at the time he was out of the country.
"When he returned to see his mother's corpse, he found a dilapidated morgue.
"At the point of evacuation for the burial, the corpse was not in good shape.
"When I heard the story, I directed my white engineer to come up with a proposal using the best equipment in the world."
While lamenting on the evasive maintenance culture of Nigerians, he urged the hospital management to ensure the facility remains in optimal condition for years to come.
Speaking earlier, the Medical Director of FMC Jalingo, Dr. Aisha Adamu, expressed deep appreciation for the generous donation.
She noted that the ultramodern morgue is a game-changer and pledged to ensure the facility and equipments are maintained.
The state Commissioner for Health, Bordiya Buma, who also spoke, said the facility would serve as a vital support to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo.
