Man remanded in Ekiti for defiling daughter

A Magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday remanded a 42-year-old man, Christopher Israel, in a correctional facility over alleged rape and assault of his daughter.

The prosecutor, Olubu Apata, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 21 in Ado-Ekiti.

He stated that the defendant raped his 22-year-old daughter, who had come to visit him, and injured her during the struggle.

According to Apata, the offence is punishable under Sections 265 and 256 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor requested that the court remand the defendant in a correctional facility, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

In her ruling, Magistrate Olubunmi Bamidele ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional facility, pending the issuance of legal advice.

She adjourned the case to November 6 for mention.
