Your efforts to improve University's healthcare delivery, appreciated, Delsu's VC tells Port-Harcourt Branch of University’s Alumni Association
The Vice Chancellor, Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga said, the efforts of the Port-Harcourt Branch of the University’s Alumni Association to improve on the health care delivery system is appreciated.
Prof. Egwunyenga stated this in Abraka on Thursday when Delta State University Alumni Association (Port Harcourt Branch) presented hospital equipment to the University Health Centre.
In a press statement signed and made available to newmen by Patrick Ijeh, Deputy Director of Ceremonials, Information and Public Relations, Delta State University, Abraka said, Prof Egwunyenga expressed gratitude to the institution's Alumni Association for partnering with the University in the provision of efficient health care on campus. The VC who was represented by the Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Simeon Onakughotor, recalled that the national body of the alumni association had helped to upgrade facilities in the health centre last year and promised that the hospital equipment will be put to good use just as he enjoined the University Alumni Association and other philanthropists to do more for the University.
In his presentation of the items which included two sets each of hospital beds and accessories, glucometers, and blood pressure monitoring machines,the Chairman of Port-Harcourt Branch of the Delta State University, (Abraka) Alumni Association, Darlington Onovae-Ekeh, emphasized that the University’s alumni in Port-Harcourt are deeply committed to supporting their Alma Mater in appreciation of the exceptional education and training they received as students.
According to him, the items were part of their annual programme to give back to the university just he said, they were procured based on a need- assessment of the university health centre conducted in consultation with the University’s Director of Health Services.
He promised that, they would sustain the initiative and urged other branches of the Delta State University Alumni Association, as well as individual graduates, to actively contribute to the university’s growth, both individually and collectively.
Other alumni of the university who spoke at the ceremony were the National President of Delta State University Alumni Association, Mr. Joseph Igbuwe and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State, Chief Donaldson Onosakpome, who represented the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, among others. They all expressed deep appreciation for the impact Delta State University (Abraka) has had on their lives and careers, emphasizing their pride of being alumni.
They encouraged both graduates and prospective graduates to join the Alumni Association to benefit from its networking opportunities and to contribute to the continued success of the university.
In her remark at the ceremony, the University’s Director of Ceremonials, Information and Public Relations (CIPR) and Co-ordinator of the Alumni Association, Prof. Enajite Ojaruega, said the university is proud of her alumni whom she described as worthy ambassadors. Prof. Ojaruega thanked the Port-Harcourt Branch of the Alumni Association for the donation of hospital equipment and encouraged other branches and alumni to emulate it.
