Ijaw Day Celebration: Tompolo bags 'Izon-Ebi Dou Keme' Award in London

High Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo, Chairman Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, has bagged 'Izon-Ebi Dou Keme' Award, attached with Certificate of Appreciation and Recognition in London by Ijaw People’s Association(IPA) of Great Britain and Ireland.

High Chief Tompolo was honoured with the award on Saturday, 17th August, 2024 during  the 76th Ijaw Day Celebration and Award Night at Kervan Banqueting Suite, 293 - 303 Fore Street, London N9 OPD.

It is on record  that this year's edition is the association's 76th year in operation in the UK under the leadership of Rev. Francis B. Akpanari, President and Benaebi Benatari Oguoko, General Secretary.

Through the award, Tompolo hopes to render more services to Izon-Ibe (Ijaw Nation), as he was described as Entrepreneur, Businessman, and Social Transformer.

The award which is described as a lifetime award, is  in recognition of his trado-cultural reawaken works and his stands on the development of the Niger Delta region.

Chief Mcdonald Igbadiwei, former member of Bayelsa State House of Assembly  who  led entourage, represented Tompolo in receiving the award in London.

The Ijaw People’s Association of Great Britain and Ireland noted that Tompolo is a treasure to the Izon-ibe (Ijaw Nation), maintained that: "He has contributed immensely to the social, economic and political development of the Izon-Ibe. He has sacrificed himself personally for the survival and success of the Izon-Ibe and has transformed lives of thousands of young people and others directly and indirectly. 

"High Chief  Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo - The Izon-Ebi Dou Owei of Izon-Ibe is indeed, a social transformer sent by the Almighty God to transform Ijaw Nation for the better."

Some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion include: HRM  Pere of Kabowei Kingdom, Shadrack Erebulu, Pere of Ekpetiama and Chairman Bayelsa Traditional Council, King Dakolo, Pere of Bomu Kingdom Joshua Igbugburu, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, PAP Administrator, INC President, IYC President, British Government Officials, Nigeria Embassy Reps, Leaders  of Business and Civil Society and Environmental Organisations in Europe.
