Okada rider dead, passengers hospitalised as truck rammed into mini-bus driving against traffic in Oleh
An Okada rider was confirmed dead, three others hospitalised as driver escaped lynching by angry mob, after a truck rammed into his mini bus while driving against traffic in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident which was confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe led to tension in the town.
PEBNEW source reports that trouble started when Police on duty stopped a mini bus driving against traffic and a moving truck ran into the vehicle which in turn crushed the Okada, passenger and others.
The source said the Okada rider died instantly leading to the angry mob to set ablaze the mini bus as he escaped Police' arrest.
According to the source, about four others were injured and were rushed to the Oleh Central Hospital and Maranatha Clinic respectively.
Confirming the incident, SP Bright Edafe said, contrary to the trending news, it was the Sienna driving against traffic that was burnt and not Police' van.
"The Sienna was driving against traffic and Police stopped him as to why he should drive one way. As he stopped, and oncoming Tipper lost control and ran into the Sienna which collided with the Okada and passengers", he said.
Other sources confirmed that One person died, three others injured were rushed to hospital. But that the truck driver was arrested by Police as the Sienna driver escaped and angry mob set the vehicle on fire.
