Baby Isioma born with imperforate anus needs N10m assistance for surgery

Mother of  a seven-year-old Ifeanyi Joy Isioma Cherish born on June 1st 2017 with an imperforate anus has cried out for support to save her  daughter from continued pains.

Isioma's birth that ought to bring joy to the young family brought sadness to the young family as the Father, Wisdom who is said to be 30 years old absconded immediately when he discovered the situation.

It was gathered that Efoanimfor abandoned the baby and took to his heels when the mother, Edith Oseyem who is 25 years old refused  the father's advice that the baby be thrown in the bush.

Our Correspondent gathered that the timely intervention of Mrs. Onyelo Akemo, elder sister to Edith that has kept Isioma from being thrown away.

Narrating her ordeal, Edith said: "I am the mother of the child, the baby's name is Ifeanyi Joy Isioma Cherish. She was born June 1st, 2017. She is currently seven years old now. She was delivered with an imperforate anus, she has been  living with the imperforate anus. 

"Immediately the father saw the baby, he said that the baby should be thrown away into the bush, but my sister and I refused because we cannot kill an innocent baby because of her present  circumstance.

"Since the father abandoned the baby, l have neither seen him nor he has checked on us till date. It is because of the baby's situation, he  has not started school till now.

"She was born at Federal Medical Centre Asaba, she had an colostomy surgery on June 2nd to enable her pass feaces through her stomach. Ever since, she has been living with the condition.

"We  use to take her to Federal Medical Centre for checkups, and since we have not been able to go again due to lack of financial support. The baby was referred to Nnewi Teaching Hospital for corrective surgeries.

"So ever since we have not been able to do the operation. She has been passing out feaces through the stomach since seven years ago after the operation.

"After the surgery, puss gathered in her stomach and they were doing a drainage from the stomach, two times in a month. But as It stands, the baby is not yet complete,  another surgery is needed but because of finance, we have not been able to do anything. She's going through lots of pains.

"As it is, I don't want to lose my baby because I know she's destined for greatness. I am appealing to everyone to come to the aid of this innocent baby. No help will be too small.

"The last time we visited the hospital, the doctor estimated between N10,000,000 to N15,000,000 because they will do three surgeries by operating the stomach and the Anus," she  concluded.
