Be responsive to plight of citizens, Rights Activist, Agberen tells Governments, ... bags "Good Governance Advocate Award"

A Civil Rights Activist, Comrade (Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen has expressed deep concerns over the challenges faced by Nigerians occasioned by its economic downturn with a call on  Governments at all levels to be responsive to the plight of the Citizens just as he bagged "Good Governance Advocate "Award in Jos, Plateau State.

Comrade Agberen who spoke to  newsmen after the award was conferred on him, urged Nigerians to be united in the fight against bad governance. 

According to him: "Activism remains a tool to cause social change, that will transform positively  the lives of the people. In a time such as this, where  oppressors in guise of leadership device different means to prevent the people from speaking, let’s hold strong to  truth  and justice and not giving into their schemes, even as we  look forward to have  a better society.”

On the award which Comrade Agberen was honoured  with, he said:" I dedicate this award to God  the Father, the giver of all gifts and wisdom and to everyone who has supported my journey thus far. Your belief and support have been my driving force."

The "Good Governance Advocate” award was conferred on Comrade Agberen by the City Reports and entire crew, headed by Mr. Fredrick Preye, after they found him worthy of the recognition of the role he plays in this county as regards  his fight for good governance at Jos Plateau State, Nigeria amidst the challenges of governance in the country. 

Comrade Agberen who was among notable Nigerians honoured in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria has  served in different capacities in Delta State under Civil Society Organisations, is at present, the National Co-ordinator, Initiative for Social Rights Concerns And Advancement, (ISRCA), a.k.a, “No Justice, No Peace,”

The prestigious award which took place last night in Jos, Plateau State, despite the challenges occasioned by the 10 days Nationwide  protest  and  curfew in the area, was earlier  scheduled to hold at the NBTT, Adjacent Crest Hotel, Old Airport Road, Jos but was shifted to Arobic Hall, Crest Hotel as a result of fire outbreak in previous venue.
