The Chairman of Tantita Security Services Ltd, a private surveillance outfit in Nigeria, High Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, aka; Tompolo, The Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw Nation said, the proponent of harshship  protest which is billed to begin on the 1st of August, 2024, to shelve it and join hands with Federal Government to find solutions to the challenges in Nigeria.

In a press statement signed by High Chief (Dr.) Government Ekpemupolo and made available to PEBNEWS said, although it is true that there is hunger and hardship in the country, it is not protest that would solve the problem in the country. According to the statement, the hunger in the country did not just start today but since the administration of President Bola Tinubu started, he is working hard to revamp the economy with well thought policies and programmes. The statement said, the President, among things in his policies and programmes, he makes efforts to address the twin issues of the economic policies  and security.

The statement said that he (Tompolo) believed that one day, since Nigeria is blessed with natural and human resources, the country would find its way to promised land in all ramifications.

"Nigeria is blessed with resources, both natural and human, and we are capable of finding our way to the promised land where our clinics deliver healthcare, our children are in school, and our infrastructure and utilities actually work. But it can not happen in a day. The most important question in nation building is not are we there now, but are we pushing in the right direction?" Part of the statement reads.

According to the statement, he (Tompolo) is sure that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would take the nation to direction of national reformation due to courageous decision which he took from the first day in office adding that, all what Nigerians need is patience for the President to  transform the country. The statement added that, there is great improvement in the oil and gas sector, the main source of the economy the last one year, which is still till date.

The statement said while citizens have the right to query Government's policies and programmes if they are not satisfied with them but protest is not the best way as it can be highjacked by unscrupulous elements to disrupt the wheel of progress when things have begun to get better in the country.

Part of the statement reads: "However, the organizers of this proposed hardship protest must know that the timing is wrong, and the protest may cause more harm than  good to the economy and security; as security reports have indicated that the protest will be hijacked by unscrupulous elements... But protests have also been known to halt progress, when they were ill-timed. When things are beginning to be done right, what is often needed is patience.

The statement, therefore, said he (Tompolo)  joined other Patriotic Nigerians to appeal to prospective protesters to call off the proposed protest and engage governments at all levels to find lasting solutions to the country's  problems.
