Folashade told the PEBNEWS Correspondent how it happened: "I came here(this community) not up to a month when this issue happened. That very day, I went for my pregnancy normal routine check-up. I was lucky to go with my child. So, when l came back from the hospital and my husband said I should check the places that were licking in the roof because, it was rainy day to cover our household property.
"We came outside, sat on our veranda facing the express road feeding our eyes on the vehicles that plied the road. All of a sudden, we saw a tanker that the driver lost control of his wheel. Before l said Jack, the tanker has fallen tilting towards us. Immediately, I was confused(didn't know what to do) as I saw fire on the tanker.
"In my pregnancy under the rain, l took my child and ran for safety. None of our property that we were able to pick. When we came back when the fire had died down, our shop and everything in it: my phone, POS machines, freezers, household items, everything went down that very day. In short, my household property worth more than twenty three million naira were lost to the fire". As l speak with you, l am still devastated. You can see my condition, the baby things I bought all burnt.
According to her, she has no choice but start with little (petty trading) to keep life going saying, this present business can not be compared to the large shop(booming business) she used to have before the fire incident.
She said: "Now, l am doing this petty trade to provide for my child and myself". Each time, while in the shop, l rebuy to sell what l earlier had in the shop before the fire incident, l feel bad.
"So, right now, it's only God that is helping us to survive. I pray the Government will help us with little financial assistance to enable have a home to live and put food on our table, she concluded.
