To alleviate the pains of the Okuama Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, the Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo Foundation, POOF, has donated relief materials to the victims currently camped at Ewu-Urhobo in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

POOF foundation also presented cash donations to ten nursing mothers that put to birth at the IDP camp.

Items donated by POOF foundation include packs of rice, cartons of noodles, pampers, sanitary pads, toiletries, detergents, bathing soaps, 25 litres of groundnut oil, and educational materials for the students in the camp.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of POOF foundation, Amb. Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo, while presenting the items said: "We are here with food items, and some other things to support our people because of the incident that happened to them in Okuama.

“As you may know, the primary aims of POOF foundation is to carry out humanitarian services wherever there is a need, so, we have come today to offer these items and money to alleviate the suffering of our Okuama people.

"Though the incident is disheartening, it is painful to see them homeless and the children are no longer going to school.

"Most of the people that are here are females and it behoves on the foundation to present sanitary pads to them and pampers to the nursing mothers", he said.

On the presentation of educational materials like notebooks, biros and erasers, Okifo noted that:"Since the incident happened, we are very much aware that the children are not going to school and we have to present the educational materials to support them for them to start learning pending when they will go back to their various homes.

"It gladdened my heart when I saw the children's jubilation on seeing the note books and other educational materials that we used to support them because,it  shows that they are missing education already.

"We don't want the children to loose hope in their education because of the incident that happened in Okuama, their education will not be stopped and this is one of the major reasons non governmental organizations  are established.

"It is my call and appeal on other foundations to come to the aid of the Okuama internally displaced persons that are currently camped in Ewu,"he  appealed.

Also, the Secretary to the foundation, Hon. Desmond Okpako said: "We of the POOF foundation, came to condole with the people of Okuama in Ewu kingdom in alliance with the motto of the foundation of:" uplifting live for a better tomorrow".

"It is our earnest prayer that such a thing should never happen to our people again and we have come to assist them with the little resources put together by POOF foundation.

"It got to an extent that the children on sighting the educational writing materials were so excited and that tells you that they are missing education in their community.

"We are here to encourage them mostly for the children to be taught even while they are in the camp.

Highlight of the event was the cash presentation to ten nursing mothers in the camp by Mrs Oghenekevwe Okifo.

The items donated by POOF foundation were received by the camp Assistant Commandant, Comrade Sunywhite Orode.
