Democracy Day Celebration: Affinity Group calls on DSIEC to conduct credible election

In the spirit of celebrating Nigeria's Democracy Day, a Sociopolitical and Economic Group, the Affinity Group has called on the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) under the Chairmanship of Dr. Jerry Agbaike to conduct a free, fair and credible Local Government Election in the Delta State come 17th July, 2024.

The group stated this in a press statement jointly signed by National Co-ordinator and National Secretary, Comrade Anthony Olomu Joshua and Comrade Akpobome Rufus Ibebe respectively.

According to the group, Nigeria's  democracy is worthy of celebration as the country's ability to sustain democracy for 25 uninterrupted years is an indication that many great things would be achieved in the country in time to come.

The group which has Henry Attotis  as National Treasurer, Vivian Umukoro as Publicity Secretary and Kelly Are as Director of Programmes, congratulated Nigerians for the  attainment of this noble milestone of silver jubilee of uninterrupted democracy, called on all to effortlessly and sacrificially work towards developing the nation.

Affinity Group which aimed  at advancing  Nigeria's  democratic process, advocating for good governance and economic development of its members, urged all leaders irrespective of political party affiliations and position to work towards the alleviation of poverty and suffering of the masses.

The group which has Pedro Oyesi, Paulwinger Omonighare, Akpobo Umughare, Mavis Okpako, Esiri Ese, Igho Umukoro as members said,  DSIEC's  conducting a free, fair and credible Local Government election in Delta State would further strengthen the nation's democracy. 

"DSIEC's conducting a credible election would help Deltans in particular and Nigerians in general to believe that we are ready to put generally accepted candidates to lead our third tier of government. This would help our greatly help our  democracy", it stated.
