Invictus Game: Prince Harry, Meghan Arrive Nigeria
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan have arrived in Nigeria today for a 3-day private visit.
They arrived on Friday after boarding the British Airways overnight flight to Abuja due to delays.
The tour which is aimed to promote the Invictus Game comes after Harry met the Nigerian team and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa at last year’s competition in Dusseldorf, Germany.
It was at the event he disclosed that Meghan was ‘rooting for Team Nigeria’, discovering she had heritage from the West African nation.
The Defence Spokesperson, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, made known that their first engagement is at mid day at the defence headquarters.
He added that they will continue their trip to kaduna. His words:"
After that, they will travel to Kaduna to meet wounded soldiers at a military hospital there before returning to Abuja for other engagements.”
As part of the schedule, the royal couple will visit a school before the duke meets injured service members at a military hospital.
In continuation they will attend a training session for the charity organisation Nigeria: Unconquered which collaborates with the Invictus Games, as well as a reception where military families will be honoured.
In the afternoon, Meghan will co-host an event on Women in Leadership with the Director of World Trade Organisation, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,
Then on sunday, the couple will attend a basketball clinic with Giants of Africa, a cultural reception, and a polo fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered.
