Itsekiris are not populated as their Neighbours - Robison Ariyo
A Warri base lawyer and an indigene of Itsekiri Nation has said that the Itsekiris are not populated as their neighbours because they marry one wife and bear just two children.
Ariyo said this in an interview with Channels television's lunchtime programme on Thursday.
The interview was centred at the Supreme Court ordered delineation of electoral wards and units in Warri Federal Constituency.
According to Ariyo, the Itsekiris are against the Supreme Court ordered exercise because the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC refused to act on an Appeal Court judgement that has to do with Warri South LGA Electoral Wards.
The Itsekiris argument is that Warri South LGA is made up of only ten wards and not 12 wards.
On the other hand, the Urhobos of Warri stands on the 12 wards arrangement.
In Ariyo's words, the Itsekiris are not populated as their neighbours because the average Itsekiri man marries only one wife and with two children only.
It could be recalled that the Supreme Court of Nigeria ordered INEC to carry out fresh delination of electoral wards and units in Warri Federal Constituency, on the 12th of December 2022, upon a matter brought before it by some Ijaws of Warri Federal Constiuency.
INEC has put machinery in place to carry out the exercise as ordered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which is the highest court of the land.
