Fear of EFCC: Ijaw musician sets appreciation box, avoids money spraying

Being fearful of the consequences following the footage of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ijaw highlife musician, Alfred Jking and De Because of Love Crew has set up an appreciation box to avoid money spraying.

This is coming after the six month jail sentence handed down to Okuneye Idris, also known as Bobrisky, for Naira Mutilation offence.

PEBNEWS can report that some musicians in Nigeria have applauded the recent move by the EFCC in enforcing the ban on abuse of naira notes.

Though, many believe that the ban on spraying money at parties will affect musicians, especially indigenous ones, while some said it is a good development.

In a separate chat with our correspondent, Mr. Okolo Silver, Jking media head, maintained that the country's currency had to be respected.

"The box is done to help curb the trending money abuse issue in Nigeria from our end.

"This is because of the nature of our job which holds to the fact that, for us to earn, one must appreciate us with money." He said.

Sending a message to their fans, he further said, "Please, the audience should help us by aligning/adapting to our new approach by dropping whatever they have for us inside the appreciation box.

"This will help us not to abuse our dear currency again rather adding respect and value to it," he added.
