2027: Oborevwori Unveils 'MORE Plus', Charges APC To Sell Tinubu At Grassroots
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council with a charge on members to take President Bola Tinubu's message and his administration's achievements to every polling unit ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Thursday in Asaba during the inauguration, the Governor unveiled "MORE Plus" as the theme for his re-election campaign, describing membership of the council as a call to service that demands unity, discipline and sacrifice.
Oborevwori, who is Chairman of the Council, said the APC must go beyond rallies to door-to-door engagement with market women, youths, farmers, traders and workers across wards and units.
"You must take our message to the grassroots. Speak to the people where they are," he told coordinators, urging them to strengthen structures at local government and ward levels and work closely with support groups.
He said the party will campaign on its records — the Federal Government's reforms and his administration's M.O.R.E Agenda which has delivered on roads, schools, hospitals, workers' welfare, youth empowerment and security.
"Our achievements must speak for us, but we must also be prepared to explain them convincingly," Oborevwori said.
The Governor assured that governance will not suffer for campaigns, stressing that ongoing projects will continue, while appealing to all political actors to shun hate speech and preserve peace.
In his remarks, Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, praised Oborevwori for aligning Delta with the centre and urged members to consolidate the gains by selling Tinubu's strides in local government autonomy, student loan scheme, security, power and infrastructure.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, defended Tinubu's economic reforms, saying though tough, they were necessary to fix years of unsustainable fuel subsidy and economic distortion.
Delta APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, in his welcome address, said the inauguration signals the party's readiness to win at all levels in 2027, calling for peaceful mobilisation.
Leaders from the three senatorial districts pledged support. Former Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, speaking for Delta North, said expectations are high after the mass defection from PDP to APC in April 2025 and urged direct voter contact. For Delta Central, Olorogun O'tega Emerhor said APC being the ruling party in Delta must be proven at the polls. For Delta South, former SSG, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, said Oborevwori's achievements will make the campaign easier.
Former APC National Woman Leader and Executive Director of NEXIM Bank, Stella Okotete, charged women to deliver at least 75 percent of votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Responding, Director-General of the Council, Senator James Manager, promised collective effort and sustained grassroots mobilisation to secure victory.
Other key members of the Council include Mr. Chiedu Ebie as Deputy Director-General, with leaders and stakeholders drawn from across the 25 local government areas of the state.
