Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the family of former Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who died on Monday at the age of 71.

The Governor, who was accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, and top government officials, visited the Uduaghan family residence in Warri to commiserate with the widow, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, children and other family members.

Earlier, Oborevwori had joined family members, including Uduaghan's daughter, Orode, and former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, to receive the late former governor's remains at the Osubi Airport.

Speaking during the visit, Oborevwori described Uduaghan as a calm, articulate and thoughtful leader whose contributions to Delta State remain indelible.

He said the large turnout of mourners at the airport and at the family's residence showed the impact the late governor made on many lives through public service and political appointments.

The Governor recalled his personal relationship with the deceased, describing him as his former boss who gave him his highest political appointment as Special Adviser in 2007 and supported him throughout his political journey.

"He was my boss. He gave me the highest political appointment, Special Adviser, in 2007. That is something that really touches my heart. You are all aware that he supported me throughout this journey," Oborevwori said.

He commended the late Uduaghan for landmark projects, particularly the Asaba International Airport, which he described as an enduring asset to the state and evidence of his broad vision beyond ethnic considerations.

Oborevwori assured that his administration will continue to preserve and sustain worthy legacies of previous administrations, citing the ongoing modification of the Effurun Roundabout Flyover.

"He has gone, but he can never be forgotten by Deltans," he said.

In the condolence register, the Governor wrote: "I am saddened by the demise of the former Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan. He was a great boss. I commiserate with his beloved wife, children, family members and Deltans over this great loss. May God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Your impact in Delta can never be forgotten. Asamaigor, RIP."
